Your PRIME Guide to a Stress-Free Fourth of July Vacation on Florida’s Gulf Coast
The Fourth of July is one of the most exciting weeks to visit Florida’s Gulf Coast, and with America’s 250th birthday falling on a Saturday this year, beaches, parks, and waterfronts will be buzzing with celebrations. Whether you’re vacationing on Anna Maria Island, Siesta Key, Lido Key, Sarasota, Bradenton, Clearwater, St. Pete, or the beaches of Pinellas County, a little planning goes a long way!
If you’re hosting a cookout at your vacation rental, you’ll have plenty of convenient places to stock up:
- Publix — locations throughout every destination, perfect for grabbing burgers, buns, produce, and forgotten essentials
- The Chop Shop — a Bradenton favorite for premium cuts and house-made sausages, convenient for guests on Anna Maria Island and in Bradenton
- Detwiler’s Farm Market — a Sarasota area favorite for fresh meats, seafood, bakery items, and produce, with locations in Sarasota, Bradenton, Venice, and Palmetto
- The Butcher’s Block — Sarasota’s oldest butcher shop, known for pasture-raised meats and homemade sausages
- Southern Steer Butcher — a Sarasota and Clearwater area meat market with holiday grilling packages
- Alpine Steakhouse & Butcher Shop — a Sarasota institution since 1975, with dry-aged steaks and a full specialty meat counter
- Walsingham Meat and Seafood — a longtime Largo butcher shop convenient for guests staying near Indian Rocks Beach, Indian Shores, and Seminole, with custom cuts and seafood trays
If you’re looking to impress at the grill, these neighborhood butcher shops and specialty meat markets throughout Sarasota, Bradenton, and Pinellas County also offer premium steaks, chicken, and house-made sausages during the holiday weekend.
Need festive desserts or decorations?
No matter which PRIME VACATIONS destination you’re celebrating in, you won’t have to go far.
On Anna Maria Island: The island Publix bakery (Holmes Beach) stocks patriotic cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and fruit trays all weekend, while Anna Maria General Store and Beach Box Market carry flags, sparklers (where permitted), and grab-and-go decor. For a full party supply run, like balloon arches, banners, and tableware, head over the bridge to Party City in Bradenton. Go on the 3rd or earlier; Saturday hours run shorter (9am–6pm) and shelves thin out fast on the holiday itself.
On Siesta Key & Lido Key: Morton’s Siesta Market and Crescent Beach Market both carry bakery treats and basic decor on the island, open daily through the weekend. For dedicated party supplies, Sarasota’s Party City on Bee Ridge Rd is the closest stop off island.
In Clearwater Beach & St Pete Beach: The Publix at Island Village Shopping Center sits right on Clearwater Beach with a full bakery, open 7am–10pm through the weekend. Shaner’s Land & Sea Market in Pass a Grille covers the basics on the St Pete Beach side. For balloons, banners, and tableware, Party City on Countryside Blvd in Clearwater is the nearest full-service option. Again, best to make that trip a day or two ahead of the holiday rush.
When you’re ready to explore, you’ll find celebrations happening all across the region. Anna Maria Island’s famous Privateers Parade brings pirate-themed fun and plenty of water fights, running from Coquina Beach to the Anna Maria City Pier starting at 10 a.m. Bradenton’s Riverwalk hosts live entertainment before one of the area’s largest fireworks shows over the Manatee River, while Sarasota lights up the bayfront with fireworks at Bayfront Park starting at 9 p.m. — a show that’s also easily visible from Lido Key’s north end for guests who’d rather skip downtown crowds. Siesta Beach hosts its beloved community fireworks display at dusk, put on by the Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce, and PRIME VACATIONS is proud to be a sponsor this year, helping light up the sky for the community we call home. Guests staying in Clearwater can catch Clearwater Celebrates America at Coachman Park, a two night festival with a laser light show July 3rd and fireworks over the harbor July 4th around 9:15 p.m., while those in St. Pete can enjoy family friendly celebrations, waterfront entertainment, and fireworks at The Fourth at the St. Pete Pier.
Not interested in cooking? No problem. Many waterfront restaurants, seafood spots, and casual favorites remain open throughout the holiday weekend, though reservations are highly recommended given the holiday crowds:
- Anna Maria Island: The Sandbar Seafood & Spirits (toes in the sand dining since 1979), The Waterfront Restaurant, and Anna Maria Oyster Bar on Bridge Street Pier
- Sarasota / Lido Key: Marina Jack and O’Leary’s Tiki Bar, both right on the Bayfront near the fireworks, or The Old Salty Dog on Siesta Key Island.
- Clearwater Beach: Frenchy’s Rockaway Grill, a Clearwater Beach institution known for its grouper sandwich, or Island Way Grill for a slightly more upscale option
- St. Pete: Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille right at the base of the St. Pete Pier, or Fresco’s Waterfront Bistro just north of the Pier entrance
From fresh Gulf seafood on Anna Maria Island to rooftop dining in Sarasota or waterfront restaurants in Clearwater Beach and St. Pete, you’ll have no shortage of places to celebrate without lifting a finger.
Before heading out, remember that traffic and parking fill up quickly during the holiday weekend. Plan to arrive early for parades and fireworks, stay hydrated in the Florida sun, and check local weather before evening events. If you’re celebrating on Anna Maria Island, remember that personal fireworks are prohibited to help protect the island’s beaches, wildlife, and sea turtles.
Wherever you’re spending the holiday, we hope your Fourth of July is filled with sunshine, unforgettable memories, and plenty of time enjoying everything Florida’s beautiful Gulf Coast has to offer. Happy Independence Day from all of us at PRIME VACATIONS!
